The Garden of Everlasting Life
|
|
The Garden of Everlasting Life is from the scripture of St. John 4:6-20. A Samaritan woman (considered by the Jewish to be of lower class) goes to Jacob's Well to draw water. The Samaritan woman was not of good moral value, but Jesus offered her everlasting life if she would believe in Him, which is exactly what she did. This garden is on the far east side of the cemetery and is near the entrance to Avenue A. The white marble statues in this feature surround the brick well that was constructed by the late Mr. Lawrence F. "Sonny" Johnson, a skilled area crafstman and personal friend. This garden was dedicated and established on the 26th of October, 1971.
